WONDERBOOM

WONDERBOOM

The Wonderboom complex, originated from a single tree. Over many years, the huge branches drooped, and where touching the ground, rooted and there, new trees have grown. The tree is sometimes referred to as a family-tree, consisting of a mother with seven daughter/second generation trees. Three of the daughter trees have subsequently rooted, and established three daughter/third generation trees themselves. This vegetative reproduction of the Wonderboom specimen is not typical of this species.

The origin tree stump has been dated by means of radiocarbon-dating and it is estimated that the tree dates back a 1000 years.
